Challenge
Galeria Sfera in Bielsko-Biała is located in close proximity to the Biała River, which can rise rapidly during intense rainfall and cause local flooding.
The key challenge was to provide the facility with sufficiently early information about the growing threat, so that technical services could respond before the water reached a level posing a risk to the building and its users.
Solution
RetencjaPL installed an FMS – Flood Monitoring System designed to continuously monitor the water level of the Biała River and issue warnings in the event of a rapid rise.
The system provides constant supervision of the hydrological situation in the immediate vicinity of the shopping centre and enables earlier detection of the point at which rising water levels may begin to pose a threat.
