GIShub – Network management software

The GIShub platform is an advanced system designed primarily for collecting data related to water and wastewater infrastructure. In its current version, it has been divided into two functional areas: Operations and Fees.

The Operations module enables the clear and structured inventory, presentation, and processing of data on water and wastewater assets (stormwater and sanitary sewer networks), both in the form of parameters, documentation files (e.g. photos), and geospatial data. The structure of data used in GIShub, including asset categories, attributes, and maintenance activities, is fully configurable by system operators, which allows the platform to be adapted almost entirely to individual needs. The system records all changes and reported events related to assets. It also enables planning of field service team activities, both in the short and long term.

To support field operations even more effectively, the web application has been complemented with a mobile version available for Android devices. The mobile application allows field teams to efficiently receive assigned tasks and to fully document completed works with descriptions and photographs. It has been implemented in such a way that it can also operate in areas with limited mobile network coverage. The entire Operations module makes it possible to generate reports and task sheets for specific infrastructure assets.

The Fees module is designed to automate the process of calculating stormwater charges, including fees for reduced natural retention, operating fees charged to residents, and fees paid to Polish Waters. To ensure efficient settlements, the GIShub system uses both attribute data relating to plots, properties, and catchments, as well as complementary geospatial data, for example administrative boundaries or impervious surface coverage. In the area of fees, the platform allows full configuration of rates, discount handling, and fee exemptions. Individual charges are generated in the form of tabular summaries for each category, as well as customised reports. The solution is further enhanced by a letter generator for users, based on templates prepared by the operator. The system also stores the history of calculated charges, extending the scope for data analysis.

In both available modules, GIShub allows the import and export of data, both attribute-based and geospatial. It can also be integrated with other systems used by the client. This enables very fast implementation of a working tool within an organisation. The GIShub platform was created primarily for small and medium-sized entities, including water utilities and organisations responsible for operating water and wastewater networks. The GIShub application enables:

  • collection of data related to water and wastewater infrastructure,
  • visualisation of both attribute and geospatial data,
  • full configurability in creating assets, categories, attributes, etc.,
  • generation of customised reports, task sheets, and letters,
  • import and export of both attribute and geospatial data,
  • integration with other systems.

Fees Module

Enables:

  • creation of information databases for plots, properties, and catchments,
  • automatic calculation of fees for reduced natural land retention and generation of letters,
  • management of fees payable to Polish Waters and operating fees charged to residents,
  • modification of imperviousness levels and introduction of different tariff groups,
  • creation of a consistent register of plots, buildings, and impervious surfaces,
  • a map view of catchments and plots with ongoing update capability,
  • creation of customised reports and analyses.

Operations Module

Enables:

  • easy entry of inventory data in the form of points (e.g. manhole, separator), lines (e.g. pipe, sewer), and areas (e.g. property, tank, catchment),
  • asset parameterisation and generation of reports on the number and types of devices, catchments, and properties,
  • network operation management, including planning and assigning tasks to service teams,
  • automatic reminders for required operational activities, e.g. cleaning of sediment traps and separators, warranty inspections of pumping stations, renewal of water permits, fee calculations,
  • interactive support for field teams via mobile devices.
