OTT MF pro – electromagnetic flow meter

OTT MF pro is a portable device for flow measurement. The OTT MF pro meter uses electromagnetic induction to measure point velocity in small rivers, channels, or ditches. This maintenance-free system consists of a lightweight sensor and a field computer resistant to adverse environmental conditions. Both components of the device are designed to be mounted on typical measuring rods. The hydrometric cross-section measurement is carried out in the same manner as with traditional mechanical meters mounted on a rod. The field computer software guides the user through the measurement process step by step, from the first to the last point. All measured values and the current position of the meter are displayed in real-time on the device screen and automatically saved to memory. At the end of each measurement, all measured velocity components are used to calculate flow according to international standards. Due to the technology used and the compact design of the sensor, the device can measure even the smallest velocities (close to 0 m/s) in shallow waters, regardless of the level of pollution or vegetation growth.

Usage: portable measurement

Measurement technology: electromagnetic induction

Measured parameters: point water velocity

Key features: compact device with no moving parts, automatic measurement and data recording, easy data export

Measurement range: from close to 0 m/s

Advantages

  • Compact and lightweight device with no moving parts – virtually maintenance-free system
  • Automatic measurement of maximum depth in the hydrometric vertical and the current depth of sensor submersion (optional)
  • Automatic recording of all measurement data – the entire measurement can be completed by one person in a short time
  • Measured velocity displayed in real-time – allowing control over the measurement
  • Flow calculation based on international standards – saving time for post-measurement calculations
  • Easy data export from the field computer to a PC via a USB connection – all values, including the LOG file, are copied
  • Rugged field computer for work in harsh conditions
  • Large, color display – readable even in direct sunlight
  • User guide provides step-by-step assistance with device configuration and measurement – even inexperienced users can operate it
  • Resistant to harsh working conditions (dust and water), IP67 protection class – the field computer will function even after full immersion
  • One field computer can work with multiple MF pro sensors

OTT SVR100 – radar water velocity sensor

The OTT SVR 100 radar flow velocity sensor for open channels is a simple, non-contact radar designed to measure flow velocity in open channels and rivers where continuous reliable data is needed, both during floods and in periods of high suspended sediment. The sensor is mounted on a dedicated bracket that allows for vertical or horizontal installation above the water surface, away from objects carried by the current. All measurement and service data (such as vibration intensity, deviation from standard position, etc.) are available via SDI-12, RS-485, or Modbus interfaces. The device is also compatible with OTT Prodis 2 software used for system calibration.

Usage: continuous online measurement

Key features: accurate surface water velocity measurement, along with metadata informing about adverse conditions (e.g., vibrations, wind, sensor position changes, etc.)

Application: non-contact water velocity measurement stations

Built-in data logger: no

Measurement range: 0,08 … 15 m/s

Advantages
  • Continuous, non-contact flow velocity measurement during low, normal, and high water levels
  • Identification of measurement values affected by sensor movement (e.g., wind, traffic) using metadata from built-in vibration and deviation sensors
  • Automatic flow direction detection
  • Reduces/eliminates interference caused by wind, rain, vibrations, or waves through advanced filtering algorithms
Installation
  • Floating objects or suspended sediments do not affect sensor operation, as it is installed above the water surface
  • Universal and movable mounting bracket allows for quick installation on structures
  • The sensor is inconspicuous due to its small size and ability to be mounted in various positions
  • Maintenance-free
Integration with systems
  • Easy integration with systems without requiring extensive device knowledge
  • Low energy consumption; ideal for solar-powered installations
  • Easy integration with new and existing systems via SDI-12 or RS-485 interfaces
  • Compatible with OTT Prodis 2 software used for system calibration
